ERS leaders’ top picks – Chris Brightling

Chris Brightling is the European Respiratory Society (ERS) Science Council Chair.

He is Professor of Respiratory Medicine at the University of Leicester, a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences and Senior Investigator with the UK's National Institute for Health Research.

His work focuses on improving the clinical management and understanding the immunopathogenesis of airway diseases such as asthma, chronic cough and COPD.

Q: As ERS Science Council Chair, what are you most looking forward to about this year’s virtual event?

A: This is the first virtual ERS Congress. Pulling together such an exciting programme against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic has been challenging, and I am most looking forward to the success of this innovative approach.

Q: What in your opinion will be the hot topics for airways disease specialists during this year's Congress?

A: Latest findings on COVID-19. Look out for latest ground-breaking trials in the ALERT sessions.
