General questions

Q: When will the virtual ERS International Congress take place?
A: The virtual ERS International Congress will take place from 7–9 September, 2020.

Q: When will the schedule of events be announced?
A: The preliminary online programme is available from the programme page.

Q: Will the sessions be interactive?
A: Voting and interactive question and answer tools will be available in all live sessions.

Q: Will there be a virtual exhibition?
A:  No virtual exhibition will be organised, however, a dedicated profile page will be available for each partner. More information on how to access those pages will be shared in due course.


Registration

Q: How do I register for the virtual ERS International Congress?
A: Registration is now open. More information can be found on the registration page.

Q: What are the registration fees for this year’s congress?
A: To mark 30 years of our annual Congress, we are offering a registration fee of only €59 for members and €99 for non members for the first two weeks only (until 16 June 2020 at 23:59 CEST). More information on the upcoming registration deadlines will be shared on the registration page in due course.

Q: What are the registration deadlines?
A: All information will be available in the coming weeks on the registration page.

Q: What are the general terms and conditions?
A: General terms and conditions are available on the T&Cs page in due course.

Q: Will there be the opportunity to arrange group registrations?
A: Yes, group registration is still available for the virtual congress. All information on the group registration process and relevant fees may be found on the group registration page.

Q: I will not be available during 7-9 September. Should I register, will I still be able to access the virtual congress content?
A: Yes, the content will be available in replay for all registered delegates until 31 December, 2020. 

Q: How can I benefit from the ERS member rate?
A: 
To be registered under the ERS member fee, you must have an active membership at the time of registration. No refunds will be made should you acquire or renew your membership after the registration has been confirmed. Hotel accommodation and travel

Q: Who should I contact to cancel my hotel booking(s) and ask for potential refunds?

Q: I am a group leader/agency and have booked multiple hotel rooms, do I get a refund?
A: If you have booked with the official accommodation partner Austropa Interconvention (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.), please contact them as soon as possible for potential refunds based on the contract conditions and deadlines.

Q: I already booked my travel to Vienna. What steps should I take to get reimbursed?
A: We advise you to contact your airline directly. If you have travel insurance, you may also contact your provider for further information about the cancellation procedure.


Congress certificates

Q: Will a certificate of attendance be available?
A: Yes, the certificates will be downloadable after the Congress.

Q: Can I claim CME credits?
A: CME credits will be delivered based on the delegate's attendance to live sessions on 7-9 September, 2020. After completion of the congress evaluation survey, which is mandatory to receive CME credits, participants will be able to download CME certificates.

Q: I am an abstract/poster presenter. How can I receive my abstract/poster certificate?
A: Check the abstract submission FAQ for more details on abstracts and abstract sessions.

Q: I am a case presenter. How can I receive my certificate?
A: Your certificate will be sent to you by the ERS office after the congress.


Educational activities, programme, abstracts and posters

Q: My abstract has been accepted. What happens now?
A: All accepted abstracts will be presented in e-poster format on the dedicated platform. Authors need to upload a one-page e-poster file and an audio recording of their presentation to present the abstract orally. ERS will contact authors in coming weeks to provide upload details.

Outstanding abstracts will also be selected and allocated for the live moderated sessions, where authors will connect in real-time to present their abstracts live, in addition to submitting recordings. ERS is currently preparing detailed instructions for these new processes and all details will be shared soon. Check the abstract submission FAQ for more details on abstracts and abstract sessions.

Q: I want to withdraw my abstract. How should I proceed?

Q: Will there be abstract/poster sessions?

Q: I am invited to participate in the Congress as a speaker/chair. How will the virtual format affect my role?
A: The entire Congress programme is being adapted by our team into a virtual format. We are working hard to accommodate this and organise as many valuable sessions as possible. You will receive more information about a new date and time of your session, as well as new guidelines and entitlements information by the end of May 2020.

Q: I registered for the ERS HERMES examinations. Is this exam still taking place?
A: Yes. The ERS HERMES examinations will still take place on Saturday 5 September 2020, but at a new location and time. The new details are as follows: University of Bern, Switzerland from 13:00 until 16:00 CEST. Industry

Q: I would like to know more about industry involvement opportunities. Who should I contact for enquiries?

Q: How can I attend the Industry Symposia?
A: Access the virtual congress programme, log in to the platform and click on the live session tab. More information will be shared when the programme is available.

Q: As a company, will it still be possible to purchase access vouchers for the Congress, as in the previous years?

Press and media

Q: I am a member of the press and would like to register for the virtual ERS International Congress 2020. How can I register?
A: Press registration will open in early June 2020. To apply for press access, you must complete the press registration application on the media centre web page and provide the necessary credentials, including a valid press card and examples of your reporting. Previous attendance of the congress does not guarantee your application will be approved.

Q: What Congress materials will press registrants have access to?
A: Press delegates will have access to all materials in the scientific programme and will be able to watch live sessions. Press will also receive an embargoed press pack containing ERS press releases, including extra materials for press that will support your reporting of new research that is being presented during the congress.

Q: Can I reproduce images of graphs/data from e-posters, presentations, etc, in my reporting?
A: Data presented during the Congress is strictly copyrighted and use of imagery or visual representations of data, audio and video recording is strictly prohibited. You may only use images, graphs and other visual representations of data from the presentations with the explicit permission of the abstract author/presenter. Failure to get permission and provide evidence of this, and failure to provide accurate accreditation, will result in a breach of copyright.
