The Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research (HZI), PIC no 999470347, is a research organization. Scientists at the HZI examine the mechanisms of infection diseases and their defences. We develop the results of basic research systematically with the emphasis on medical application. The Helmholtz Institute for Pharmaceutical Research Saarland (HIPS) is the first permanently installed extra-university institution in Germany explicitly dedicated to Pharmaceutical Research; and is a branch of the HZI in Braunschweig. The scientists at HIPS search for novel drugs and improve their application to humans. Furthermore they explore the delivery path of the drug to its target.
